The Kosovo Energy Efficiency Fund has signed the first agreements with beneficiary municipalities for the project “Implementation of Energy Efficiency Measures for Multi-Apartment Social Buildings”.
Prishtina, Skenderaj, Vitia, Gjilan, Drenas and Malisheva are six out of the 13 municipalities where 28 buildings will be transformed into comfortable apartments for 785 families, thanks to a donation from the European Union, through the Government of the Republic of Kosovo. The fund will cover 90% of the costs, while the respective municipalities will contribute 10%.
With a budget of 5.5 million euros allocated for the first 22 buildings, investments will be made in thermal insulation of the building envelope and roof, replacement of windows and main doors, installation of a heating system with air conditioners for each family unit, renovation of entrances, installation of an intercom system, fire protection measures and smoke detectors in the municipalities that have signed the agreements.
Kamenica, Klina, Obiliq, and Istog will sign the final agreements next week, while the tender procedures for the municipalities of Mitrovica, Lipjan, and Prizren have not been completed yet.
